FDA Compliance & Product Disclaimer (REVISED)

Dr Tess of Beverly Hills/Virtual Concierge MD

Theressia L. Washington, MD, P.C.

Effective September 2, 2026 | Supersedes July 3, 2025 and the September 2, 2026 draft

What This Disclaimer Covers — and What It Does Not

This disclaimer applies to dietary supplements, non-prescription products, compounded preparations, and educational content offered or published by this practice.

This disclaimer does not apply to medical care. Medical services provided by Theressia L. Washington, MD, are the licensed practice of medicine. Within those services, your physician does evaluate, diagnose, and treat medical conditions, and prescribes medication when it is medically appropriate. Nothing on this page limits or disclaims that.

The distinction matters. Supplements carry a legally required disclaimer stating they are not intended to diagnose or treat disease. Physician care carries no such limitation — that is precisely what physician care is.

Medical Services

When you are evaluated by Dr. Washington, you receive a clinical evaluation by a physician board certified in Family Medicine and licensed in the state where you are located. She may diagnose conditions, order and interpret testing, prescribe medication, and recommend treatment.

What we do not promise:

  1. No outcome is guaranteed. Medicine is probabilistic. Individual response varies.
  2. Booking a visit does not guarantee any prescription. Medication is prescribed only when medically appropriate after individualized evaluation. This applies to every service, including visits named for a specific medication.
  3. Telehealth has limits. Some conditions require in-person examination, and you may be referred.

Dietary Supplements

Required FDA Statement

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease.

This statement applies to all dietary supplements recommended or dispensed through Fullscript or any other dispensary.

What You Should Know

Supplements are regulated by the FDA as foods, not drugs. They are not reviewed for safety or effectiveness before sale. Manufacturing quality varies between brands. Supplements can interact with prescription medications, affect laboratory results, and cause harm at high doses.

Disclose every supplement you take to us and to all of your clinicians. No supplement is a substitute for prescribed treatment.

We may receive compensation from supplement dispensary arrangements. You are never required to purchase supplements from us or from any particular source, and declining has no effect on your care.

Prescription Medications

Medications we prescribe are FDA-approved products.

Some may be prescribed off-label — for an indication, dose, or population not described in the approved labeling. Off-label prescribing is lawful, common, and based on clinical judgment and medical evidence. When we prescribe off-label, we will tell you, explain the reasoning, and document your consent. Off-label use is frequently not covered by insurance.

Compounded Preparations

Compounded drugs are not FDA-approved. The FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness, or quality before they reach patients. They are prepared by a licensed pharmacy under a patient-specific prescription.

Where an FDA-approved product is clinically appropriate, we will prescribe it. See our Compounded Medications Disclaimer for full detail, including compounded hormone therapy.

Weight Management Medications

We prescribe FDA-approved medications for chronic weight management, currently including injectable and oral semaglutide, tirzepatide, liraglutide, orforglipron, naltrexone/bupropion, and orlistat.

The FDA shortages that previously permitted broad compounding of semaglutide and tirzepatide have been resolved, and the FDA has proposed further restricting bulk compounding of these substances. We do not represent any compounded product as equivalent to, the same as, or a substitute for an FDA-approved medication.

These medications carry a boxed warning regarding thyroid C-cell tumors and are contraindicated with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. Full safety information appears in our Weight Loss Program Informed Consent.

Peptides

Where any peptide preparation is discussed or offered:

  1. Many peptide products marketed for wellness, recovery, or anti-aging are not FDA-approved for any indication
  2. The FDA has identified certain peptides as presenting significant safety risks and has restricted their use in compounding
  3. Research-grade peptides sold online are not intended for human use and we do not endorse or supervise their use
  4. Any peptide therapy we offer is limited to preparations we can lawfully and safely prescribe, and we will tell you the regulatory status of anything we recommend

Aesthetic Treatments and Devices

Aesthetic products and devices are used consistent with their FDA clearance or approval, or off-label where clinically justified and disclosed. All carry risks reviewed with you beforehand. Results vary and are not guaranteed.

Testimonials and Results

Testimonials, reviews, and before-and-after images reflect individual experience only and do not predict your result. Where we have any material connection to a person providing a testimonial, that connection is disclosed alongside it. We do not publish fabricated reviews or suppress negative ones.

Educational Content

Articles, videos, guides, and social media content are general education, not medical advice, and reading them does not create a physician-patient relationship. See our Blog & Educational Content Disclaimer.

Artificial Intelligence

Where generative AI is used to draft a patient communication containing clinical information that is not reviewed by a licensed clinician before sending, that communication is clearly labeled as AI-generated and includes instructions for reaching a human clinician.

AI is never used to make clinical decisions, generate your treatment plan, or provide therapy. All clinical judgment is exercised by Dr. Washington.
